Mamgu

David's mother came to visit for the weekend. She is an American who gave up her citizenship in favour of Canadian citizenship and now has dual British citizenship (David's father was English). She lives in Wales hence the mamgu (pronounced mamghee) instead of gran. David was born in Canada then grew up in Zambia and Nigeria before finishing his schooling in Edinburgh where he stayed on for university and beyond. That's quite a mix of backgrounds on the Woakes side for Lillian.
