The Loco Works

Concentrating mainly on locomotive and rolling stock repairs, with only 10 steam locomotives actually being built on site, the facility very quickly became the major employer in the town with employee numbers peaking at 847 in 1946 out of a total Burgh population of 3960.

The works closed on 31 December 1969 with over 500 job losses but the legacy of the Inverurie Loco Works lives on in the form of sporting and social clubs Including Inverurie Loco Works F.C.
