In the foreground you see, out of focus and somewhat anxious, a mugo pine beginning to feel the results of today's melt. It stands four feet high, three feet of which remains under snowpack. In the background stands the old apple tree as the lesson in patience for me. This tail end of winter is beautiful, but only in its own sweet time.
