The Royal Academy of Arts
I found a spare (well not spare at all really) hour this afternoon and went to see "Rubens and his Legacy" at the Royal Academy of Arts at Burlington House on Piccadilly. Apparently the RA was founded by George III in 1768. I am glad I made time to visit the exhibition although for me almost as interesting as the paintings is noting where they have been borrowed from.
In the foreground are a couple of sculptures which I confess I don't entirely understand. But they are by Frank Stella, Hon RA who is one of the most important living American artists
