A chip off the old block
Slipping cemetery Sunday gently into mono Monday, I'm cornering (a-ha) the market with this lump of overgrown Victoriana.
Arno's Vale Cemetery was just down the road from where I lived in Bristol, but all the time I lived there it was closed for fear of toppling monuments and possibly wolves. The cemetery had been abandoned to the clinging attention of ivy and encroaching woodland, some of which grew from exotics planted during the time the cemetery was in operation.
Public mutterings grew into a rescue attempt in the C21st, and there is now a trust which looks after the site, gently opening up spaces in which old monolith gravestones and casket tombs hide, while retaining the wilderness that makes it so attractive.
And on the subject of death, meh... I'll keep blipping until the server collapses.
