Mono Monday: CORNERS The Queens Head in Aylesbury

Set in the heart of Aylesbury old town on the CORNER of George Street and Temple Street is The Queen’s Head Inn - a pub and restaurant. It is a 17th-century house, partly of brick and partly of timber and brick, much restored although some of the wooden mullioned windows still remain.  The Queen’s Head website says it is ‘steeped in history’ dating back ‘to the 1500s and is quite possibly the oldest Queens Head in England!!’


It certainly is full of character, serves delicious food at sensible prices and the beer is well kept.  I have been in it several times, notably after concerts in the nearby St Mary’s Church. The King’s Head is only a few yards away and even older but, as it’s not on a corner, I opted for the Queen instead.  You could get considerably inebriated if you had just one drink in each of the old pubs in this part of the town which are all within crawling distance!
