Over the boardwalk
We went over to the other side of the island for a bit of a walk to Newborough which has a large forest with umpteen different trails to follow and a huge expanse of beach.
This shows the walkway over the sand dunes which was destroyed by storms with high tides in 2013, it has been rebuilt now and the sand dunes which were also shifted have started to reform naturally.
In the background is Llandwyn Island which you can walk over to at low tide, which luckily it was when we were there.
It is the legendary home of Saint Dwynwan she is the Welsh Patron Saint of lovers whose lover was turned into a block of ice (he was later thawed out , but St Dwynwan became a nun)
The ruins of the Abbey still remain along with the lighthouse and a little row of white painted cottages originally for the pilot boatmen and lighthouse keeper.
