Wonderful Weekend Away
Another WONDERFUL sunny day in what is normally wet Wales, when we visit anyhow.
I have so many blips that I could show you, but I had to choose just one!
Today we went up the mountains, opposite the cottage. It was amazing to see how tall the mountain was behind the cottage. I never realised. On another visit, I must have a go at walking to the top!! We then carried on driving through the mountains to visit Horseshoe Pass. The scenery was beautiful and the pass is 1376 feet above sea level, so you can imagine the views. I could not believe the number of cyclists that were actually cycling up the mountain. They must be mad. We then drove down the Pass and stopped at Abaty Valle Crucis Abbey. It was a very tranquil location, obviously steeped in history. From there we drove into the town of Llangollen. On our way back to the cottage we stopped and visited the Original Butterfly Man. He made us very welcome and chatted about how and why he had started to make these ornamental butterflies. We continued on to Carrog Station, to see the steam train that we see from the cottage and then a walk along the Dee River. Now unfortunately, it is back to the cottage for a BBQ and then to pack our things once I have posted my blip. This has certainly been a great get away.
Back to normal tomorrow, unfortunately.
