Eyrie
The title is, I admit, a little misleading--it's just some wildflowers (Any idea what they are? Crocus time of year, but pygmy-iris looks), which finally herald the advent of spring. But they were a hundred metres or so away from a bald eagle nest, just peeping out the top of which was mammy eagle's head.
My photos of the nest are a little blurry (the far away problem) and not worthy of a full blip; I would add them to my blipfolio except that it looks like I can't upload any more photos to that.
The eyrie marks the first time since 1947 that bald eagles have nested in the National Arboretum. Exciting times for eagles in the Mid-Atlantic.
