The Head Gets A Hat (Wednesday 11th March 2015)

Calne's main sculpture, The Head, which is installed outside the library, has been visited by yarn-bombers, who, in my opinion, have improved the original work quite considerably by giving it some head wear. The Marden Belles, from Calne Women's Institute, have been working on this and some other pieces for the last six months (other examples of their work can be seen in the album below) and they hope to embellish The Head in the following months. The Calne WI have a largely young membership and the yarn bombing is designed to raise the profile of the group and increase awareness.

I last blipped The Head in its unadorned state in 2003 here. It also appeared in my blip of 7th August 2014.

The Rezillos - (My Baby Does) Good Sculptures (1977)
Intended as the Rezillos' second single on Sensible Records, instead a re-recorded shorter version came out on the Sire label and was included on their debut album. This version slipped out on the B-side of a mis-pressed 1979 re-release of their debut single, Can't Stand My Baby.
