Barber Cat

I found this handsome cat watching from the window of a barber shop where I've had many, many haircuts. It is the shop formerly occupied by Benny The Barber, who opened for business in 1957 and kept snipping away till around three years ago, when frailty and a stroke or two changed the daily plan. He's been immortalized in both versions of our mural, which showed him with black hair in the first (which has been covered by the second). Benny is an Italian immigrant who never lost his accent, never liked to give shaves, and never left a customer without a story to hear from him.

The new (female) barbers have added colors to the decor, a few dollars to the price of a cut, and this fine creature to keep order. But, as fate has had it, I still have not lost any hair in their chairs since the place re-opened.
