House of Straw

Next to Steve's allotment there is an field which has been left to nature; it is overgrown with brambles, old fruit trees and other vegetation.  Steve has had permission to erect a bird hide in it and make some other adjustments so as to attract some more wildlife.  This pile of straw bales (or is it a house of straw for a little pig?) is one of the latest editions, the idea being it will attract animals that like to burrow into warm places - hedgehogs, mice and so on.  As a bit of fun for my niece and newphew he added a 'No wolves' sign and a notice politely asking there to be no 'huffing and puffing' in the vicinity.  The children saw the funnyside of it and by chance noticed a near by pile of sticks and pile of bricks and were quick to point out that the wolf had clearly already got to those houses!  We didn't check to see if there were three little pigs shaking with fear inside the house of straw!
