Slag Alice...

If you fly out of Newcastle airport, you might see Alice sculpted into the earth in Northumberland. I think it's been made as a rival/alternative to the Angel of the North.

There is an open cast mine over the back and normally all the displaced material is replaced back in the hole. Here, they've retained some of the bing material to build and sculpt a reclining woman named officially 'Lady of the North' but locally as Slag Alice.

It's got a load of snaking paths and was a great were afternoon walk.
