Coach Spelgatti

The action of this shot is not on the players, it's on the shirt over the chair at the end of the bench. This is the state championship game between the Sutherlin Bulldogs (white team), and the Henley Hornets. About a month ago, our long time friend and my mentor coach, Bill Spelgatti, an assistant for Sutherlin at 84 years old, died in the last month of the season. As a tribute to him, the team placed his shirt over the chair at the end of the bench, then went out and won a second straight state championship for him. We'll have his celebration of life a week from Sunday - I'll give a part of the eulogy - but I have a feeling he was celebrating tonight. Great win for Coach Spel.
