Enticing to a pollinator?
What lengths plants go to in order to make their flowers attractive to insects that will hopefully take some of their pollen to another of their species. This is a Phalaenopsis .
Most of the orchids we see are grown with a large measure of human interference. I do love the subtle colours, though, and especially that these flowers seem to last for ever, for months anyway. I guess that in the wild, specialized pollinators are not that common.
