Rhythm Has Your Two Hips Moving

There was an open morning for music at Valerie's school this morning so Arthur and I attended. The event was organised by the school's marching band - one of the best in Japan. The event started with each section of the band explaining what they do and playing a brief snippet of music. The children then chose which section they would like to work with for the next hour and a half. Arthur chose the section which I would have chosen - percussion.

It was fun watching Arthur get to play with all manner of percussion instruments and I was very impressed by the children who instructed the rookies. They were very confident, obliging, patient and extremely well informed. The girl who played this drum set was very talented, too.
