Oh, yes. It's official.

SPRING!

It's not easy conveying the impressiveness that is a flock of Sandhill Cranes overhead - not for me anyway.
It helps a little if you think about the fact that every bird has a wingspan somewhere between 1.65/2.29 m (5ft 5/7ft 6 in).
(Looking large helps a bit as well)

There were about 50 of them flying over the backyard, making that prehistoric yodeling sound they do. I bounced when I heard it - and then ran to find a spot that was not obscured by branches.

They are glorious - I have been considering a tattoo of their silhouette in flight for years now. Maybe this will be the year.
