Growing old disgracefully

By GOD

DEEP AND SUSTAINED INTEREST

In London to attend the launch of Grow Mindfulness.  I met such interesting and kindly people, not least the complete stranger whose arm I grabbed in panic as I stumbled rounding the corner at the BBC.

Today I rounded another sort of corner.  I'd been wondering just how long I could carry on teaching mindfulness given recent health issues, but the event plus the reading I did on the journey gave me a sense of renewal.  All day long I had the lines from the David Budbill poem running through my head:

Tomorrow
we are
bones and ash,
the roots of weeds
poking through
our skulls.

Today...

...Drunk on music,
who needs wine?

Come on,
Sweetheart,
let’s go dancing
while we’ve
still got feet.
