Bear Gates, Traquair House

Today, I went to work via Traquair House as I had to to pick up something from the owner. As you approach the entrance, you pass by the Bear gates which installed by the fifth Earl, Charles Stuart, in 1738. When they were closed, after Charles Edward Stuart (Bonnie Prince Charlie) passed through in 1745, the Earl vowed they would never be opened again until a Stuart king returned... so no time soon I guess.
