Flower Friday - Banksia

We'll be working from 10 am til 10 tonight, so I very grateful that one of the hotels on the river bank had a Banksia tree as a feature.  You couldn't actually get into the garden, as it was all fenced off, but I could just get close enough to get this.

Interestingly the tree was full of red wattle birds, which just goes to show, if you provide the food, the birds will come, even in the middle of downtown Melbourne.

The Banksia is named after the great explorer/botanist, Sir Joseph Banks.
