I've been to Huddersfield today to get some felting supplies. This isn't the first time I've featured Huddersfield and the Penistone Line on Blip - I have a fondness for both. The journey is a pleasant one through small towns and rural landscapes, and over some pretty impressive viaducts. Penistone itself is roughly half way along the line between Sheffield and Huddersfield and also featured in the early stages of my River Don Walk. I walked the length of the Line in instalments, of course, some years ago and thoroughly enjoyed it. It was featured on Countryfile a while back, when Julia Bradbury took a ride on the infamous music train.
Hudderfield boasts Harold Wilson and Patrick Stewart amongst its sons, and it was featured in Nick Crane's Town series. 
Nice to have a reason to make the trip!
