The legendary Repco-Brabham Formula One car
One of the most legendary Australian racing cars, the Repco-Brabham - 1970 Elfin 600D V8 2.5 Litre Formula One Car.
Australian company Repco has played a pivotal role in the success and evolution of motorsport worldwide, a contribution cemented in 1966 when Repco designed and built the Repco-Brabham BT19 Formula One V8 racing engine together with engineer Ron Tauranac and Sir Jack Brabham AO OBE.
The Australian built Repco-Brabham Formula One cars with their V8 racing engines powered Sir Jack Brabham to victory, beating the likes of Ferrari, in the 1966 Formula One Drivers’ and Constructors’ Championships. This feat of best driver and best Constructor is a feat unlikely to ever be repeated.
Sir Jack Brabham was Australia’s greatest ever racing driver and a close partner of Repco throughout his racing career. He died suddenly at his home on the Gold Coast on 19th May, 2014.
I decided to show a closeup of the engine displaying the Repco Brabham lettering in honour of the great man. The car is presently for sale and offers are being called for. No idea what is is worth, but it will be a lot.
