DOUBLE LOCKING

Croft gates have an uncanny habit of springing open (usually during hours of darkness) despite all manner of sturdy locking mechanisms. Gates that have been carefully shut at sundown are often open come morning. Is there such a thing as a gate-fairy? Crofters are wise to such phenomena and take added precaution with various forms of double locking. Such innovations invariably involve the use of brightly coloured polypropylene rope. This is a 'taobh-thall - far-side' version!
