Fountains Abbey

With a good forecast for today an excursion was planned. We settled on a visit to Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal water park a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Fountains was a Cistercian Abbey eventually closed by Henry VIII's Dissolution of the Monasteries.

We arrived just after it opened and so enjoyed the best of the morning light. A wonderful way to spend a day.
