Meet Mrs. Quail
My first capture of a Gambel's quail of the Spring. They've been around for a few weeks now, probably building their nests and preparing to raise their young 'uns.
She should be getting ready to lay her eggs soon, if she hasn't already (10-12 of them). They incubate for ~22 days. I can't wait to see the little babies running around. They are cute as the dickens. They are one of the most difficult, if not the most difficult, critters to photograph in the desert because of the way they dart around. Of course, I will do my best this Spring. No promises, though.
