Rice from Malawi

Last week, I was invited to a Fairtrade lunch. I met a wonderful man, Charlie, who represents sugar cane farmers from Malawi. Also present was a company that imports rice from Malawi. We were given some to try.  It was heartening to understand just how much difference the Fairtrade premium makes. 

It's got a wonderful floral smell and taste and although long grain, I think it would make a wonderful dessert.
