92nd Birthday
In Dublin today to visit my dear old Dad in the nursing home he has been moved to after several weeks in hospital. Today was the occasion of his 92nd birthday. Just imagine that. He was born in 1923, the year after Ireland's Civil War ended. Can you just imagine the change in the world he has seen in his lifetime? To be honest, I can't. Everything is different. Except perhaps human nature itself.
I am utterly wrecked and I am about to head for bed. Yesterday I walked too far along a very long beach and today I did far too much walking in the City. My feet have just about had enough. Dad may be 92, I an only 66 but I am having such trouble with my feet that my long distance walking days are, I fear, over. Bones broken in both of them 20 years ago beginning to take their toll.
If I don't get to commenting tonight, you will understand I'm sure. Will try to catch up tomorrow.
