Aberdour Castle and Bobby Jones Dinner

Tim and I spent another quiet morning with a few chores accomplished and finished off our gluten free M&S coffee and walnut cake over a few games of Rummikub! We then used his English National Heritage pass for a visit at Aberdour Castle, which is a historic Scotland house. It's part ruin (the ruin is perhaps the oldest castle in Scotland), part roofed and used for events like weddings, and part large green gardens and a dovecot. We also wandered around St Fillans church, which is open and was beautiful. The weather was heavy showers but stayed fine while we were at the castle.

We headed home for a small lunch, then took our weekly Sunday afternoon coffee (and cake) at Louie Browns, which was really nicely decorated, has a few gluten free options, and is not too expensive.

Tim did a few more chores while I got ready for my Bobby Jones Dinner at Howies near Calton Hill in Edinburgh. He had very generously decided to stay to be my taxi from the station for the evening :) The evening was good - lots of food and wine, familiar faces and stories, and lots of bright young current scholars and new recruits as well as Dean B and the Imlays. Stephen was the only other one there from my year, plus AJ from the year before and Jonathan from the year after. But the best part - it's always nice to feel my Bobby Jones memories are real and not just part of some elaborate dream!
