An ordinary life....

A Fond Farewell...

Backblipped

So, my last day at work finally arrived.  Was only in my office two minutes when Debbie and Eileen came in and closed the door.  They were giggling like a pair of old fishwives schoolgirls, so I knew there was trouble ahead!

Eileen had announced to me previously that it was her and D's mission to find me the worst leaving pressie ever.  They were about to deliver a whole pile.  All wrapped in Christmas paper.  :-))

First out the bag was the Grater Paper - Real man's toilet roll for hard ass people.  Thank you ladies :-))  Next out was an eye mask as apparently now that I am a lady who lunches, I shall be needing a nap of an afteroon.  The slogan on the front  of it  - Do not Disturb.  I'm disturbed enough already - seems entirely apt!

They are also concerned that I will be missing their company during the day a HUGE assumption on their part so the next fabulous gift was a "Grow your own Gay Best Friend".  Every girl should have one apparently.  And this one grows to 600 times his size!  *You can insert your own jokes here!*

Debbie, was keen to ensure I didn't miss her cooking so the final gift was an air freshener that honks of sizzling bacon.  Debbie, I shall waft it under my nose every morning as I eat my cornflakes and imagine your bacon rolls :-)))

They also got me a huge box of chocs and a bottle of champagne.....well it says champagne but I suspect Eileen has been collecting her pee for the last month and ran it through the soda stream before bottling it.  She says only by tasting it will I know for sure!!!!!!!!!!!

See the worst leaving pressies ever here large!

Ladies, you are the best!  I absolutely LOVE my worse leaving pressies ever.  I am going to miss you so much!   What a laugh we have had!  xxxxx

But that's not all....coffee and cupcakes in Anne and Heather's office my blip stalkers along with Alison and Eileen (yes the same Eileen as above...sticks her nose into everything!  Lynne couldn't make it as she was stuck in a meeting with the boss) and more pressies!!!!  A beautiful bay tree, £25 voucher for Cocoa Mountain and two books on how to write your first novel (which they insist I must do if I'm not working!)

I also received many other lovely gifts from colleagues and the wonderful families I've supported -  wine, champagne, flowers, plants, chocs, M&S vouchers......and so many beautiful cards with such wonderful messages that I can't think about them without starting to bubble!  I feel truly blessed and humbled.

There was of course the official leaving presentation by my boss who started it off by telling everyone that the first time he ever met me, I was draped  (his word) across a bed in my nightie!  That is factually true, well not the draped bit,  but I am saying no more about it other than it was entirely innocent!   Much to my relief I managed to make a short speech without dissolving into tears, with no thanks to Anne who was sitting opposite me lip quivering and tears streaming!  ((((HUGS))) :-)

When that was over, Debbie put on a fab lunch of fajitas with all the trimmings then at 4pm it was time to shut down my PC and sign out on the staff sheet for the last time, before heading down to the Boathouse for a much needed G&T or 5!  We all sat outside in the sunshine being a tad loud and I suspect ruining everyone else's quiet Friday drink in the sun!  Oops!
:-)))

We decided to stay at the pub for dinner and after stuffing ourselves and laughing till our jaws ached, I said my goodbyes again,  before Carole and Lisa dropped me off at home and ended up coming in and carrying on the celebration till 1am.

What a send off!  I really can't thank you all enough.  I am completely overwhelmed by it all!

Infact, I think I might just come in next week and we can do it all again next Friday!  :-))))
