What's This Called?
I had another little wander in the sunshine around the garden in Tiptree this afternoon. I could smell this delicately scented flowering shrub before I saw it. When I was growing up, Dad and I would watch "Gardener's World" together - it was in the early 70's when Percy Thrower was the presenter. Dad encouraged me to plant up my own little bit of one of the flower borders in our garden. I remember filling it with pansies, white alyssum and blue forget-me-nots, all from the local branch of Woolworths. I love blue and white flowers to this day. Although I can still remember a lot of plant names from those happy times watching gardening programmes with Dad, I have no idea what the flowering shrub in my blipfoto is called, and neither does Mum. If only Dad were here to ask - he would definitely have known its name. This is a close-up, so the flowers are a lot smaller and daintier than they look here. The leaves are glossy and look a bit like an umbrella plant, with the tiny fragranced flowers sitting in the centre of each group.
Does anyone recognise what it is?
