Ivy at Animal Kingdom
Since we did not have to pick Owen and Jim up from Cape Canaveral today, we switched out plans and decided to use one of Disney tickets. We bought two-day tickets, hoping to spend one day at Magic Kingdom and the other seeing the Harry Potter exhibit. It wasn't until tonight, when I tried to do our Fast Passes, that I found out Harry Potter is at Universal Studios, not Hollywood Studios. Hollywood Studios is a Disney park. So far, nothing is going as planned. So Jim hops on the computer and we decide to do Animal Kingdom instead.
According to the weather, it's suppose to be warm and dry. We enter Animal Kingdom the next day and are greeted by a lady, on stilts, covered in ivy. She is moving gracefully at a snail's pace. She waves her fingers one at a time and blinks her eyes as if she's just woken up. She is almost camouflaged by the green foliage all around her, to the point where we didn't see her at first and wondered what people were crowded around.
Shortly after seeing her it began to rain. It rained on and off most of the day. We paid ridiculous prices for plastic ponchos and enjoyed ourselves anyway. The boys' favorite was Expedition Everest: a roller coaster with a Yeti theme that takes you up a "broken" track and then sends you flying backwards unexpectedly through the dark.
At the end of the day, we went to the Lion King show which was FABULOUS! The costumes were gorgeous, the puppetry was top-notch, and the choreography was fabulous. They even had a guy that juggled fire on his feet!
On the way home, we stopped at a gas station called Race Trac where you could make your own ice cream sundaes with all sorts of flavors and toppings, then pay buy the pound. YUMMY!
