Earthly times

Sunday today, so this is one of a pair of stained glass windows in my church. I was part of a group involved in commissioning these almost 30 years ago as a memorial gift from Ron, whose wife died in 1989 in her early 40s.
It was fascinating, meeting with the artist and watching the process from concept to design, choosing the glass and finally seeing the completed windows in place. The words were from her favourite hymns, this window focussed on our time on earth, its partner on heavenly joy.
Artist was Patrick Ross-Smith. The son of a couple who later came to be good friends.
During services, when the sun shines the congregation are bathed in coloured light. I love the coloured splash of reflection which I caught, of the glass on the stone of the window sill.
