Three crows against a gull

After a lovely long bath this morning, I poked my nose and camera out of my study window in the light rain when I saw some bullfinches feeding just down below me.  By the time I was ready and set up for the conditions they had flown away of course.  But I still enjoyed just looking out across The Horns valley whilst listening to the springtime chatter of all the birds in the surrounding hedges, bushes and fields getting ready for the season of mating, nest building and rearing their next generations.

A large gull flew rather lazily on the breeze over the top of the houses  and I looked out to the right towards the hamlet of Butterow on the far side of the Golden Valley.  I spotted this other gull perched on top of the tall wooden pole in one of the rear gardens down the hillside from us.  Several crows were obviously rather put out as this is their terrain, sitting on the wires and the pole.

There are lots of crows nesting in the tree tops down near the stream in  The Horns and they come to the back gardens to socialise.  Today they seemed to be just squawking, making low passes and flying onto and off the wires.  Then a concerted attack happened with these three bombing the gull to try to get it to fly away.  The gull seemed unperturbed and was still there when I closed my window and went back to work on my computer.

You can see it defined more clearly if you go to the large view.
