The Ancient Art of Communications
I stumbled across someone working on his vintage vehicle.
It is a 1935 Austin 7 modified to be a reconnaissance Tourer.
Registered SEZ 1935 and named Olive, this stalwart little car has a Bren gun mounted on the back, complete with ammunition box.
Inside behind the seat is this scene for communicating in the field.
On the right hand seat are two metal army hats and a hand grenade. (decommissioned, like the gun)
On the floor is a Morse code unit, next to a field telephone. On the ledge is a Radio/Frequency modulator.
Coolest of all, is the wicker basket to carry....yes, a pigeon or two!
Imagine carrying your own iPigeon. No batteries needed.
This car is hired out as a wedding vehicle, specialising in carrying the groom in shotgun weddings.
The owner has three other cars; two more Austin Sevens and a Morris 8.
You can see more about his car here or a short YouTube clip here
