Ooooph
Sometimes ewe have to feel sorry for the mother as the two lambs vigorously butt at her teats. This poor lady looked a bit winded.
There were early lambs in fields near Milnthorpe in the early new year, but numbers here are increasingly rapidly now. Signs of Spring are everywhere, there were long-tailed tits collecting lichens to line their nests (which does seem very early), and I saw my first squashed road toad of the year (always sad to see).
Wifie was on her course, so Gus and I went for a longer walk than usual, exploring some footpaths that I have never been on before. We came back via the old railway embankment along Arnside Marsh, where we met a big group of walkers who had stopped for a breather. Several of them were trying to tempt Gus away, and he ran back to them twice to enjoy some more strokes. But loyalty won out in the end - thank goodness.
