First Cake Ever

Happy Birthday, dearest Laura! We all love you very, very much!

How quickly this blissful year has gone.

This is Laura's first cake. I am a mean mother who doesn't feed her baby any sugar. The cake was Nigella's Olive Oil Cake, dairy free (for Laura) and gluten free (for one of the guests), made with local, freshly pressed olive oil, real cacao and the evil sugar. Our Birthday Girl attacked the cake before I managed to grab the camera, I was dishing out the cake and ice-cream at the time. She wasn't going to wait. I am not sure she quite enjoyed the strong chocolate flavour, but she gave it a good go. Tilly must have got her fair share, too.
