Grey Plover

This is a surprisingly large bird! Seeing it in the bird book you have no sense of scale, it's also a very brilliantly camouflaged bird-well at the moment it is! Wait 'till you see this bird in breeding plumage! I'm also embarrassed to say I didn't spot this bird, it was was my eagled eyed oldest son who directed my lens to it. My camera also had trouble focusing on it, I think it's a combination of the blades of grass and the birds flecked feathers. Anyway it's s new bird to me and one I have to photograph with its summer plumage! I don't think my lens will hunt for focus if I manage to see one...
