We made a quick trip into West Wetlands Park before lunch today. It was sunny and breezy, but a very pleasant day.
We walked to the pond to see four seniors in lawnchairs having a great time with their remote control sailboats. A nearby egret was not impressed. It watched the boats with a wary eye. When one boat got too close she lifted her skirts and flew off to a nearby tree. After a few minutes regarding the sailboats on the pond, she glided down to the pond on the opposite shore. The egret seemed quite undisturbed by passersby, like ourselves. We sat on a park bench to watch the egret watch the four boats in maneuvers. The ring-necked ducks floated by for a look too.
