A Very Strange Sky

Today we have had rather variable weather, although in general it is mostly been quite nice.  Towards the end of the afternoon (sunset) we had a sudden very brief, but very intense rain shower.  As the sky began to clear following this shower and the sun broke through behind the clouds that had passed, this was the result.  Some rain was still falling when this picture was taken, but it had fallen from clouds fairly high up above us and had not yet reached the ground by the time that the clouds had moved on. This picture was taken from our now assessably balcony.
