Our 4.30an start to see the sunrise from the salt flats went pretty wrong when our jeep got stuck in a mud ditch about 2 minutes into the drive. 45 minutes of digging lead to nothing, and at one point I was actually reversing the jeep while Vincente our driver helped the others to push. Eventually another tour group went past and towed our car out, leading to even more chaos when Rachel fell ass first into the mud. Finally we were on our way and just caught the sunrise, then headed to an island for even better views. We spent the morning taking perspective photos and driving over the massive expanse of salt. It's difficult to even show how cool it was through photos. A quick stop at the train cemetery in Uyuni marked the end of the trip and we headed to the bus station to buy our tickets to La Paz for that night. We had all day to wait for the bus so spent a lot of time in local Internet cafes and eating overpriced nachos. Luckily our bus was the comfiest one yet and we were on our way to La Paz by 8pm.
