Monday was the first day of our 4 day/3 night Tupiza to Salaar de Uyuni tour. We got into our jeep at 8am, bags strapped to the top and a nice Portuguese guy as the fourth passenger. Our day consisted of a ten hour drive through desert, streams and grassy hills, stopping along the way for photos and food. We saw hundreds of llamas and vicuñas too, most of which ran at the sight of the jeep. We went up to around 4800m which combined with very bumpy roads meant we felt fairly queasy for parts of the journey. Our accommodation for the night was in a very basic hostel near a national park we were visiting on Tuesday. Unfortunately the tour agency hadn't informed our cook that we were vegetarian so we had a weird combination of fried eggs and potatoes for dinner.
