Ayton Castle

The ruins of Ayton castle. We decided a nice circular walk through Forge valley along the river Derwent would be good. I was glad I put my wellies on - it was a bit muddy. A mud highlight was Darren carrying Amelia over a particularly muddy patch and losing a shoe. I don't think he found it as amusing as everyone else. We walked past this tower and at East Ayton decided it was too far for the kids to walk back so me and my brother did the extra bit of getting the cars.

I cooked the Quorn chowder for tea which went down well. We had another night but Darren and family went home in the evening. It is nice when there are more people around.
