The Hidden Valley

The day started in Cortina, on the lifts to the west of the town. Then the bus took us to Cinque Torres. We then skiied to Lagazuoi and took the cable car up. From there we skied north-west down a pisted valley with no lifts but with huge cliffs catching the setting sun, a magic place. Having skied down the "Hidden Valley" we came to these cabins.  The sun had sunk down in the sky but I really liked the contrast between the crags in sunlight and these shaded cabins.  Some stopped for a drink and took the bus back to Corvara but those of us determined to ski all the way couldn’t pause here because the day was ending and we had to reach the end of the valley before the horses retired for the day.  Horses?  Yes, we needed to be towed behind the horses to the base of the next lift to take us over another hill and then down to Corvara.
