Wandlebury Woes
We are very lucky to live close to Wandlebury County Park which has been a much loved destination for enjoying the woods and running off steam over the years. Sam especially has spent lots of time there as Henry, one of his best friend's Dad was Head Park Ranger and the family lived on site.
In early January the family got the news that the charity who run the park have decided to make all the rangers redundant - which means Henry's family loose their home as well as a job. And, in an unlucky twist of fate Bev, pictured here, Henry's Mum & my lovely hard working friend was also made redundant a few months earlier.
There has been outrage and protest about the terrible Wandlebury decision (the latest update in our local village newspaper was today). But, the family have had to make tough decisions quickly. The uncertainty about the eventual outcome means that Henry is moving to Norfolk with Bev at Easter and starting school in Cromer, near where the family have a holiday cottage.
I'm sincerely hoping that isn't the last time we'll share a cup of tea in Linton, & I've everything crossed that 2015 will get much better for the lovely Gibbs family. Onwards and upwards...
