New Chair, Paella, and Guateque Town

Bought a new chair in the morning in the same shop where we bought the zapateria (shoe cupboard) last week. We spotted it then, but wanted to think about it first. Great service from the family run shop and they even let us in 20 minutes after closing time! We left with it under our arm - well, not quite - but brought it home with us in a taxi-van.

We didn't even have time to uncover it as we were due into our next door neighbours for lunch. The afternoon (and evening, as often happens at Spanish lunches!) passed very pleasantly, helped by mussels marinera, seafood paella and a yoghurt strawberry dessert. It's always great to catch up with Ferran, Merce and their son Bru.

Before we knew it, it was 8.45pm and Bb and I had been thinking of going to see an old friend sing in her band. Ferran and Merce joined us and so off we went to La Tinta Roja to see Guatesque Town. Great show, good crowd and a new venue for all of us! The band's great - fantastic voices and they use a whole range of music instruments and percussion. Helen (our friend) used an old fashioned washing board at one point! She was one of the teachers on the hugely successful tv programme 'Operación Triumfo' - a kind of Spanish version of Pop Idol, but long before that. She's a voice trainer by profession.

Here's a link to one of their songs, which they sang last night. Not sure if you need to sign into soundcloud to hear it.
