the big empty

this is Lake Opuha, in South Canterbury. just about empty. built so farmers can irrigate their land, however the drought has lasted long and the water has almost gone with it. No more irrigation. driving past still and dry irrigators in paddocks that are drying up and turning brown is a unusual sight where once was green pasture. So the wait for rain goes on and not just for the farmers but the townies too. As the longer the drought the more it will effect.
