Cairo Bound

Back Blip

Connected to Cairo flight here and arrived safely at hotel at around 3am and got to sleep around 5am. Bit weary but all went well and my driver was waiting with a smile and 'Welcome to Cairo!'

Yesterday was definitely a travelling day with Bb leaving for Rio early in the morning and then my leaving Bcn at 18.45hrs. He was still in the air when I took off but we managed to have a Skype chat in the wee sma' hours of the Cairo morning. My room has a wonderful Nile view, which I'll share with you soon. I fell asleep to the call to prayer and woke up to the same.... at midday. It was incredibly loud at 3am but I must have drifted off and slept through all the others! So a good 7 hours was had. It's strange being back, with a healthy mix of familiarity, foreignness and anticipation.

Everything's a bit easier second time round. I've already bought an Egyptian sim card and credit, changed some money and joined the little 24 hr internet cafe right across from the hotel. There's free wifi in the hotel, but just for one device so I chose my laptop - am here to work after all! Joining here allows me the use of both iphone and laptop easily and good for blips from my iphone! Off to buy some basic foodstuff to put in the 'minibar' in my room (which is empty of course) to keep my chunk of Scottish Cheddar and oatcakes company. Also, seek out a little kettle/coffee machine as I like to have a coffee at will and especially while I get ready in the morning.

Tomorrow I'll go into the school with my co-trainer and get all set up for our Sunday start.

Exciting times for Egypt at the moment and I just saw some Facebook comments of a few young Egyptians I know here saying that they're already disapppinted and frustrated with the incoming results. Need to read up a bit on what's happening.

Just realised how hungry I am, so off to find some food first and foremost!
