Padilla Bay

Arvin and I had a free day today. Really! It never happens. But it did. So we went a wandering, down Chuckanut Drive. Yes. That is the name of the wonderful road that wanders down the sides of the hills, high above the water, from Bellingham to the Skagit Valley.

We stopped at Chuckanut Bay Gallery, one of our favorite places to see really fine art. We didn't buy anything, just looked and talked to the folks there who know us by now.

Then we drove on the Padilla Bay and took a long rambling walk along the wetlands path. There were ducks everywhere, mostly Pintails and Green Wing Teals. It was a gorgeous day.

On the way back we stopped in Edison at Tweets for a delicious late lunch/early dinner. Arvin had a lamb burger and I had cheesy grits with sausage and roasted winter vegetables. Yum!

Then we meandered back up Chuckanut and went home for a quiet evening together. Perfect day.
