Baby Sprinkle
Cole and I attended a dear friend's baby sprinkle today. She is due to have her second baby at the end of March so her family threw her a "sprinkle" instead of a shower. I love this idea because second time moms need to feel they are surrounded by love and support just as first time moms need to. Myself and some of Jessica's friends and family went in together on a gift for her - six hours with a postpartum doula, Nicole. Nicole will come for two hours at a time and help Jess with whatever she needs, whether it be talk support, holding the baby while Jess sleeps, doing the dishes, preparing food. Anything, really. My mom gifted me four hours with Nicole after I had Cole. It helped a lot to know someone is coming to support you in whatever way necessary is a big stress relief after having a child.
Cole had a great time at the sprinkle, despite the busy, somewhat frenetic conditions at the restaurant. I see changes in him on an almost daily basis now. He is making new sounds as he becomes familiar with his vocal cords and all the noises they can make. He's also becoming more tolerant of car rides and stroller rides. My little guy is growing up! He will be five months old tomorrow.
