Smarts a little
It was the perfect alignment of darkness, foul weather, an unlit path, man in black. Didn't see him until I was right on top of him. Literally. At first I thought my collarbone was broken but since I could move it without screaming it probably wasn't but when I got up man in black was face down in the grass. Breathing. But not moving or responding. Phoned an ambulance and got quizzed for about 10 minutes on the location although short of proving a grid reference I could hardly be more specific. A driver stopped, enquired, got out to help. Meanwhile, bloke rouses himself and gets to his unsteady feet and pronounces himself fine and me all right. And starts to wander off. Ambulance woman cancels herself and I straighten the handlebars and starting walking home. But then feel OK enough to get back on the bike and ride slowly home.
Getting changed is interesting. The arm moves but not well. There's some grinding and clicking. It's not sore to touch but something's out of place. I should probably get someone to look at that. Mandy's down at the scout hall with the kids so I let her know and drive myself to A&E, except it's not A&E any more. It's a minor injuries unit, which is fine. A sore shoulder counts as a minor injury but X-ray shuts at half nine (after sports and DIY injuries but before pub brawls, I suppose) and I've missed that. The nurse practitioner decides it's a grade 3 dislocation of the AC joint (read all about it) so the options are drive to Kirkcaldy for a 90 minute wait or just go home with a sling and some pain killers and go back tomorrow. Aye, it's not that bad. I'll go back tomorrow.
